Depaul UK are a youth homelessness charity that encourage the public to volunteer their spare rooms and become ‘Nightstop hosts’.
Cannes Young Lions asked us to come up with an idea that increased awareness, volunteers, and donations on a minimal budget.
And we had 24 hours.

We needed to reposition the resources that Depaul UK needed (time, money, accommodation) in a way that was relevant to our audience.

Insight
Brits love a Big Night Out – happily parting with £60 for the experience, on average.

Our idea
Donate your Big Night Out to give a young homeless person a Big Night In on World Homeslessness Day.

How it works

We’d programme a #BigNightIn of entertainment with Depaul UK’s existing partner, Channel 4, including a one-off special of their flagship show, Gogglebox.

Charity ambassador HRH Prince Harry would become a Nightstop host for the evening and invite a young homeless person onto his sofa to watch TV.

We’d create live idents with the content to show how volunteering your spare room can be a safe and rewarding experience, while putting the faces of the young homeless community at the forefront.

Across other channels, celebrity ambassadors and YouTubers would invite the public into their home for their #BigNightIn with live donation tracking to boost fundraising.


#BigNightIn made the final shortlist for the Cannes Young Lions Award.
